We were going to share a review of a recently released book that promises an insider’s look at the Trump administration.

And we still will — after we share news of an upcoming release by a far more prominent, yet anonymous, insider.

CNN is reporting that the anonymous senior Trump administration official who wrote a controversial New York Times op-ed last year will publish a book called A Warning on November 19.

Sources insist that the writer is the same person who published “I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration” and that their identity is being withheld for their personal safety.

Matt Latimer, who co-founded the literary agency representing the anonymous author, won’t comment on whether the writer is still part of the administration, but says they plan to donate most of the proceeds from A Warning to free-press charities.

You can see the book’s cover and read more official reaction on CNN.

As to the book we teased initially: NPR has reviewed Holding the Line: Inside Trump's Pentagon with Secretary Mattis, by Guy M. Snodgrass.

Snodgrass, who had served as Mattis’s chief speechwriter and communications director, had to file a lawsuit against the Department of Defense in order to get his book published.

Now that it’s available to critics (though not the general public), David Welna shares his thoughts on it — including several concerns about accuracy and fact-checking — in his review for NPR.
