Costumes aren’t just for Halloween, and they certainly don’t have to be spooky.

Take, for instance, the guests who spend weekends at Governor’s House in Hyde Park, Vermont.

The Georgian-style mansion hosts fans of Jane Austen every weekend and invites them to dress and act in the fashion of the era.

The Guardian spoke with owner Suzanne Boden about the seriously devoted bookworms — ranging in age from seven to eighty — who’ve been attending these Austen weekends for over a decade now.
