Barnes & Noble has unveiled the contenders for its first Book of the Year award, to be handed out in December.

B&N CEO James Daunt explained, in a press release, that booksellers were asked to choose books that they were “most proud to be selling.”

From there, a selection committee trimmed the pool to eight nominees, from which booksellers will again be asked to choose a favorite.
