Not everyone will be able to put Joanna Penn’s most recent podcast to work for them, but we thought it was an interesting enough read to share widely.
Back in 2014, Penn released two novels in German, Spanish, and Italian; by 2017, she’d pulled out completely because the results were disappointing.
But earlier this year, she noticed that her book sales were up quite a bit in Germany, so she decided to analyze what went wrong in 2014-2017 and see whether she could fix it.
The reason we warn that not all authors will be able to put her findings in action?
Penn’s new experiment is only with her nonfiction books — translation software isn’t quite ready to handle the subtleties of language in fiction, in her opinion.
Follow how Penn took an English book and successfully sold it in German, either by reading her transcript or listening to her podcast.
