In honor of the holiday, we invited our Facebook fans to share Thanksgiving reading recommendations.

The parameters were quite broad — the book could be themed around Thanksgiving, include a great feast scene, or just inspire gratitude that the story existed for you to enjoy.

Here's what our fans had to say:

Betty W.: One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp.

Claudine M.: The only book that has really made an impact on me is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I re-read it occasionally and it is still relevant to me. It reminds me of my mother, who went through such hard times, but rose above the hardships and was a strong person and passed it on to her children.

Elaine E.: At Home In Mitford by Jan Karon.

Gina B.: An author friend of mine, Ela Rae, has her first book coming out on Amazon this week called Soul2Soul. She is a hospice nurse and this book is all about love, gratitude, life...all of it. I've read some of it and it's amazing! This is definitely on my list for Thanksgiving!

Jeanie W.: Nancy Atherton; her Aunt Dimity series is wonderful. Also Jan Karon; good food is served in every book of her series.

Patricia B.: Rich Bullock's books. He writes Christian thrillers that have an uplifting message. The characters end up grateful for their lives.

Terrye T.: Anything by Truman Capote, but especially his short story “A Christmas Memory.”

(Need another reason to feel grateful? Here are Oprah magazine's favorite Thanksgiving tales, too, so you're sure to have plenty of reading material.)
