Author Milan Kundera is now a citizen of the Czech Republic.

Kundera, best known for The Unbearable Lightness of Being, fled his native land (then Czechoslovakia) in 1975 and has lived in France ever since.

According to the Associated Press, the restoration is a result of Kundera’s meeting with Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš last year in Paris.

Kundera is ninety years old and doesn’t speak to the media; the news came via the Czech ambassador to France, who told reporters that he handed over the certificate last week.
