Alison Bechdel’s graphic novel memoir Fun Home is headed from stage to screen.

Pride reports that actor Jake Gyllenhaal’s production company has optioned the rights to the Broadway musical based on Fun Home.

Gyllenhaal himself is expected to star in the movie, too, playing Bechdel’s father.

Production could begin later this year or early next year.

Fun Home focuses on Bechdel’s relationship with her father, who died shortly after Bechdel realized that he — like her — was gay.

The title refers to nickname Bechdel gave to her father's funeral home.
