Speculation last year that Lee Child could serve as a Booker Prize judge has been proven accurate.
Child, author of the Jack Reacher novels, will help author Sameer Rahim, writer Lemn Sissay, classicist Emily Wilson, and publisher Margaret Busby select the 2020 winner.
The BBC points out that Child — a commercially successful author — is an unusual choice for the panel, especially given his past criticism of what he perceives as snobbery toward popular writers like him.
More Booker announcements will come in July, with the longlist; September, with the shortlist’ and October 27, with the winner.
