This article from the Guardian is, technically, about defacing books, but in a manner that most bookworms will find much less frightening than another recent one.

That is, it’s about inscriptions in books — generally in the front, but other times throughout the text.

Booksellers shared their affection for or antipathy to marginalia, along with the most compelling stories they recall, with the newspaper recently.
