Library systems aren’t the only entities pushing back against Macmillan’s ebook license embargo.
Digital Book World announced today that it will ban all employees of Macmillan imprints and subsidiaries, plus employees of its parent company, from attending or speaking at its conferences.
Bradley Metrock, CEO of Score Publishing and the lead organizer of the DBW conference, said in a news release that the ban would last as long as the embargoes do.
Macmillan’s policy, which took effect in November, limits libraries to buying just one ebook copy of new releases upon publication; for additional licenses, they must wait eight weeks.
Metrock’s news release also revealed that twenty-five librarians will receive full conference passes to Digital Book World 2020.
