Feeling a bit too cheerful this morning? We can fix that, with the help of an NPR author interview.

Richard Hasen, a law professor and the Election Law Blog founder, has a new book coming out February 4.

The title: Election Meltdown: Dirty Tricks, Distrust and the Threat to American Democracy.

As Hasen explained to Fresh Air’s Terry Gross, the 2020 presidential election very well could be close.

And while he considers the risk to be small, there also still is a risk of some sort of Election Day meltdown — whether it’s a candidate refusing to concede, an issue accurately counting votes, or external circumstances that prevent a significant number of voters from casting their ballots.

Read highlights from or a complete transcript of Hasen’s conversation with Gross on NPR’s website, or listen to the whole segment below.
