The question of whether you can make an unlikeable character, well, likable seems at first to be a bit of a non sequitur.

But author E. J. Wenstrom argues that it’s a perfectly valid question — she in fact prefers her characters rough around the edges. 

You will, however, need to pay careful attention when crafting that character, though.
