With the external world adding to existing anxieties, we could use a post in which we’re told to take a deep breath and relax.

That’s sort of what Anne R. Allen does in a new blog post.

Specifically, that advice comes in response to new writers who are wondering why their sales and career aren’t taking off.

Her diagnosis? They invested everything in one book, before they built up a creative inventory of blog posts, shorter pieces, social proof, etc.

So while being told you need to generate that content may not be relaxing, receiving the blessing to shed external and internal pressure to just publish that book already might be what you need.

Read more of Allen’s advice for how new writers can prepare themselves before launching the first book on her blog.
