French authors under fire for posting about their second homes

Two acclaimed French authors have found themselves in eau chaud recently thanks to their posts about quarantine life.

Leïla Slimani and Marie Darrieussecq have both left Paris for their second homes in the French countryside, and their posts from those places have stuck in the craws of their less affluent fellow citizens.

The Guardian explains that police checkpoints have been set up to prevent most Parisians from doing just that over the Easter holiday — and that tensions are running high among the country-dwellers, who fear the city residents are bringing COVID-19 with them.
