Anne Tyler's just-released novel, Redhead By The Side Of The Road, diverges from the author's frequent themes, according to an NPR review.

But that's perfectly fine — while protagonist Micah Mortimer is, in fact, another of her "likeable oddballs," he doesn't discover (like these other oddballs) that he's been living the wrong life all these years.

Instead, his orderly life is disrupted by outside forces, but in a way that makes for a "heartwarming balm for jangled nerves," says NPR's Heller McAlpin.

Check out McAlpin's review and others on BookMarks, and read an excerpt from Redhead by the Side of the Road in the New York Times.
