We saw a joke circulating on social media early in the pandemic that sarcastically expressed gratitude that every company with your email address wants you to know they’re aware of coronavirus.

One English teacher and writer took this observation a step further and created a poem out of said emails.

And as much as we hate to say this word, “First Lines of Emails I’ve Received While Quarantining” has gone viral.

The Guardian reported that after a single day, Jessica Salfia’s poem had been liked more than 83,000 times and shared by 23,000 accounts on Twitter.

Her creation, mocking what some would call marketing and others would call opportunism, can be read below, and you can head to the Guardian to read more about pandemic poetry of all tones.
