Kristine Kathryn Rusch’s latest process blog title caught us off guard, during a time of sheltering in place: “My travels this week.”
As you probably guessed, though, she’s referring to the fiction that has provided her a virtual escape from the chaos of the coronavirus pandemic.
And yet, she says, she’s heard too many writers declare that they don’t want to publish their next book amidst all this.
Now, if you’re struggling to create right now or encountering any barriers (for instance, your cover designer, editor, etc., are juggling new family obligations with professional ones), neither we nor Rusch will urge you to release before the product is ready.
But if the book is ready and you’re an indie author who’s used to marketing without physical appearances? Don’t deprive a world hungry for escape of your book!
Rusch points out that books “don’t spoil,” either — there’s no reason that a novel can’t sell like hotcakes months or years after its release.
