We’ve been told that puzzles are the hottest trend in lockdown entertainment.

So the timing is perfect for a particular plotting tip from novelist Justin Attas.

He calls it the puzzle-piece method, and it involves using what you do know about your story to fill in the gaps about what you don’t quite know.

Attas starts with genre, then moves to setting, themes, characters, and a sequence of events.
