Joy Harjo will continue as poet laureate of the United States, the Library of Congress announced today.

Harjo will work on an interactive digital map project called “Living Nations, Living Words: A Map of First Peoples Poetry” during her second term.

In her first term, she has focused on highlighting the intersection between music and poetry, which, the librarian of Congress said, is something they hope she continues during her next term.

Harjo is the first Native American poet to be named poet laureate.

You can read more about her past work and goals as poet laureate in the New York Times.
