Apparently, 2020 is not the first time that Dr. Anthony Fauci has been seen as crush-worthy.
Author Sally Quinn met Fauci, then the government scientist best known for fighting the spread of AIDS, at a Washington function in the early 1990s.
She told the Washingtonian that she “just fell in love” with him — and at the time, she was seeking inspiration for the love interest in her work-in-progress, Happy Endings.
This character, she said, “would be somebody who was really brilliant, and compassionate, and kind, and decent, and honest. All of those things — and sexy.”
And Fauci, said Quinn, “just exuded charisma. All the things that (the protagonist) would have fallen in love with.”
Happy Endings was a bestseller in 1991; learn more about its backstory and the novel itself in the Washingtonian.
