NPR has shared a variety of book reviews and author interviews in the past few days that (unsurprisingly) all hit on coronavirus and other plague/crisis themes.

If the mere thought of more COVID news makes you anxious, may we suggest an interview with news correspondent Dan Harris, who famously suffered a panic attack on national television.

Harris went on to write a memoir, 10% Happier, and shares some of its lessons about meditation with Terry Gross.

Also on Fresh Air is a conversation with John Barry, author of The Great Influenza.

Barry isn’t the first person, nor will he be the last one, to draw parallels between the coronavirus pandemic and the 1918 flu outbreak, but he's among the more qualified folks to do so.

A more modern take on pandemics comes from Chinese author Fang Fang, whose Wuhan Diary: Dispatches from a Quarantined City just came out in English.

Emily Feng reviews the translation but also provides important context for the pushback that its author heroically endured.
