So many quarantine activities that are trending seem to be back-to-basics, whether it’s baking, gardening, or sewing.

How about adding “breathing” to that list?

Appropriately enough, we learned about a new book called Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art through NPR’s Fresh Air program.

Terry Gross interviewed the book’s author, James Nestor, who was advised to take a breathing class to help with his recurring pneumonia and bronchitis.

Nestor was amazed by the results and inspired to take a much deeper look at a simple action that many of us take for granted.

Check out a few highlights from the conversation, including some fascinating facts you can share at your next virtual hangout, on NPR’s website, where you can also find the full audio of the show plus a transcript.
