The Academy of American Poets has revealed the twenty-three recipients of its Poets Laureate Fellowships.

Each recipient gets a $50,000 grant for a project focusing on community engagement.

Read more about the poets and the projects they’re leading and adapting to social distancing requirements in the New York Times.

And speaking of poetry during a pandemic — essential workers in New York City are composing haikus about their experiences on the job right now.

The project is the brainchild of the Worker Writers School, a free literary workshop for low-income and union workers.

Members are, of course, no longer meeting in person, but The City reports that they’ve been gathering online and sharing their haikus on Instagram.
