Over the weekend, a judge ruled that the publication of John Bolton’s tell-all political memoir could go forward.
But that certainly doesn’t mean that the former national security adviser is getting off consequence-free.
U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth didn’t mince words in his ruling Saturday, reports the Associated Press.
“Defendant Bolton has gambled with the national security of the United States. He has exposed his country to harm and himself to civil (and potentially criminal) liability,” Lamberth wrote. “But these facts do not control the motion before the Court.”
The White House, though denied the right to block The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir's publication, can still try to prevent Bolton from profiting off the book — and is doing so.
Another threat to The Room Where It Happened: pirated versions of the book are circulating online, reports the AP, though it’s still on top of Amazon sales charts in spite of that fact.
