Today we're interviewing paranormal romance author Alisa Woods.

Woods lives in the Midwest with her husband and family, but her heart will always belong to the beaches and mountains where she grew up.

She writes sexy paranormal romances about alpha men and the women who love them.

She enjoys exploring the struggles we all have, where we resist — and succumb to — our most tempting vices as well as our greatest desires, but she firmly believes that love triumphs over all.

SADYE: How did you come to see yourself as a writer, and what inspired you to seek publication?

ALISA: It took me a while to self-identify as a writer. I'm the sort of person who takes the leap and tries things — I'm not afraid of failing. I figure it's one of the best ways to learn!

But the funny part about that is, when I do take that leap (say into writing romance), that I don't really "own" that — after all, it's just something I'm trying out!

I think I was several years into writing romance before I actually said (in my head) "Hey, you're a romance writer." It had finally settled in that this wasn't something I was trying anymore; it was something I never wanted to stop doing!

SADYE: What have been the most surprising, rewarding, and challenging parts of your writing career?

ALISA: Surprising: how deeply my emotions get caught up in my writing.

Rewarding: knowing my readers have that same experience when they read my stories.

Challenging: the fact that I have so many stories to tell and only a limited time on the planet.

SADYE: What has been the most touching or memorable piece of reader feedback you’ve received?

ALISA: I get lots of quick notes from readers, saying they like the books or replying to one of my newsletters, but sometimes they share things that are very personal.

Once, someone wrote and said they were recovering from a difficult surgery in the hospital, and my stories were helping them pass the time and ignore the aches and pains.

I can't think of a better thing for an author to do than to make someone's life a little better, if only for a bit.

SADYE: What message or theme would you like readers to take away from your work?

ALISA: My books are all about healing and love.

I hope that my readers see there are many ways to find love, and no matter how hard things might seem, love is almost always at least part of the answer!
