The ripple effect of J.K. Rowling’s comments on transgender issues continues.

The Guardian reports that the Harry Potter author has returned the Ripple of Hope Award given to her last year by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Organization, because its president criticized said comments.

Kerry Kennedy, RFK’s daughter and the group’s president, issued a statement earlier this month about Rowling’s comments back in June.

In part, it read that her “attacks upon the transgender community are inconsistent with the fundamental beliefs and values of RFKHR and represent a repudiation of my father’s vision.”

Rowling has not retracted the tweets in question, though she argues that they were not transphobic, as her critics have claimed.

She posted Thursday on her website that she’d be returning the award, saying that she was “deeply saddened” but believed it was her only option.
