Ruth Klüger, acclaimed German literary academic and author of a bestselling Holocaust memoir, has died.

She passed away Wednesday at age eighty-eight, according to dw.com.

Klüger, born to a Jewish family in Vienna in 1931, was interned at Theresienstadt and later Auschwitz, experiences that she described in Still Alive.
