The United Arab Emirates official accused of sexual assault won’t face prosecution in the United Kingdom.

According to the Guardian, Caitlin McNamara’s lawyers had submitted the opinion that Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan — the UAE’s minister for tolerance — could be tried under “universal jurisdiction.”

However, the Crown Prosecution Service said it didn’t have enough evidence that Nahyan was acting in his official capacity during the meeting in which McNamara says she was assaulted, with that being one criterion of the universal jurisdiction argument.

McNamara was the curator of the inaugural Hay Literature Festival in Abu Dhabi, and Nahyan’s department sponsored the event.

Organizers have said, in the wake of her claims, that the event will not return to Abu Dhabi until Nahyan is removed from his post.
