Some page-to-stage veterans will handle an upcoming movie adaptation of Women Talking by Miriam Toews.

Frances McDormand (who produced Olive Kitteridge) will produce and star in the film, while Sarah Polley (who worked on Away From Her and Alias Grace) will direct it, reports Variety.

Women Talking features a group of women in an isolated Mennonite colony who are coming to terms with the realization that men in their colony have been drugging and raping them at night for years.

The book was a bestseller and appeared on several best-of-2018 lists.
