If you asked someone which holiday they associate ghost stories with, they’ll probably first blurt “Halloween.”
They’re not wrong – but “Christmas” would be another great response.
This tradition, says Smithsonian magazine, predates Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, though that story does mark an era in which far more Yuletide tales grew spooky.
