Writer Unboxed and Jane Friedman both featured posts recently on the editing experience.

At the former, longtime editor Jim Dempsey seeks to put authors’ fears to rest — editors aren’t foaming at the mouth to utterly destroy manuscripts and their writers’ egos.

Rather, authors should expect respectful, informed and useful feedback from their editors.

And at the latter blog, author and editor Sandra Wendel describes what kind of feedback that will entail, depending on whether you’ve sought a copy edit, a line edit, or a proofread.
