We love seeing the tongue-in-cheek writing advice to avoid clichés like the plague.

And we also empathize with the struggle to avoid them — they caught on and became clichés because they resonated with us, in some way.

That said, you can certainly find a different method of capturing the imagery or emotion that they invoke.
