Bernardine Evaristo is writing a memoir

Anytime someone becomes the first, it’s reasonable to expect a memoir reflecting on their journey.

So we weren’t surprised to learn that Bernardine Evaristo, the first Black woman to win the Booker Prize, will publish a book about her decades-long writing career.

The Guardian reports that Manifesto will come out in October (at least in the United Kingdom) and describe how she “moved from the margins to centre stage.”

Evaristo — whose eighth novel, Girl, Woman, Other, jointly won the 2019 Booker — said she finally felt the time was right to release a memoir.
