Author Jason Reynolds has been chosen as the inaugural honorary chair for Banned Books Week.

It’s the latest of many honors for Reynolds, who has written over a dozen books, including two of 2020’s most challenged titles, All American Boys and Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You.

He’s currently the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature for the Library of Congress and has also received several National Book Award nominations, a Newbery Honor, an NAACP Image Award, and several Coretta Scott King Award honors, according to the Banned Books Week news release.

This year’s Banned Books Week is set for September 26 to October 2, with the theme of “Books Unite Us. Censorship Divides Us.”

Reynolds explains his concerns about censorship in both the news release and a short video, which you can watch below.
