We have a release date for the final Inspector Montalbano novel.

Author Andrea Camilleri, who died in July 2019, had written this final installment a few years before his death, with the intention that it not be released until he was no longer able to write.

The Bookseller reports that Riccardino — the twenty-eighth Montalbano mystery – will come out this fall: September 21 in the US and October 14 in the UK.

Its publisher promises that it is “a wonderful conclusion to a magnificent and life-affirming series,” and The Bookseller seems to suspect that there’s a noteworthy reason why this particular book had to remain under wraps for so long.
