Father's Day, the literary way

It's Father's Day in the United States — cause for celebration for some, cause for grief or frustration for others, and cause for literary list-making for many publications. 

Author Sam Miller, in the years after his own father's death, found himself thinking more deeply about dads in books, and thus rounded up his top ten books about fathers for the Guardian.

And as Miller noted, many famous works of fiction feature not so much a prominent father, rather his absence; along those lines, Literary Hub identified seven famously absent fathers in literature.
