Working hard and working aggressively are both often glamorized.

But, if done all the time, neither is ultimately productive — or healthy.

Joanna Penn’s most recent podcast guest, Sarah Santacroce, is the author of The Gentle Marketing Revolution.

And as she explains in their conversation, “gentle” doesn’t mean “too nice” or “wimpy.”

You can listen to Santacroce and Penn apply gentle marketing to indie publishing or read a transcript of their conversation on Penn’s blog.

In a similar self-care vein, the Alliance of Independent Authors explored the concept of creative rest for writers.

ALLi’s ultimate guide to creative rest identifies a few methods — yes, sleep, but other types of breaks — and shares member experiences with recharging their creative batteries.
