An official prequel to A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh stories will come out this fall, to mark the 95th anniversary of their release.

The Guardian reports that Jane Riordan, who has previously written standalone Winnie-the-Pooh stories, has written the ten-story collection Winnie-the-Pooh: Once There was a Bear.

The book describes how the stuffed bear went from the toy shelf at Harrods to the home of Christopher Robin.

Its art as well as its writing style should evoke the originals, with illustrator Mark Burgess mimicking the aesthetic of E.H. Shepard’s drawings.

The Guardian has a few previews of the adventures contained in Winnie-the-Pooh: Once There was a Bear, which comes out September 30 in the UK but October 5 in the US.
