If you had to guess which global city’s residents were the most bookish, which would you choose?

According to the World Cities Culture Forum, that honor would go to San Francisco, with Helsinki and Toronto serving as runners-up.

Here’s where we introduce the methodology and caveats.

Literary Hub explains that the World Cities Culture Forum asked its partner cities to self-report library-lending data.

And this data actually comes from different years, depending on the city.

Still, if you’d like to see which cities’ residents check out the most books (and how many the average resident borrows), Lit Hub has that information.
