TIME revises a recent top 100 YA book list

We’ll admit it: We’re sharing TIME’s list of the best 100 young-adult books knowing full well how much people will likely push back against it.

Best-of lists always do, of course, but this is an update of the 2015 list that the magazine created, with the explosion of new voices in mind.

TIME’s explanation of how it created this list mentions that more than half of the books on the list now come from the past decade.

It’s arranged in chronological order, so while we’re sure many readers would agree that Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is tops, its front-of-the-line seat doesn’t mean it reigns supreme in the TIME judges' eyes.
