Literary Hub alerted us to the news that a new movie version of Macbeth was in the works.

Now, it’s alerted us to the release of a (very short) trailer for the adaptation, The Tragedy of Macbeth.

Denzel Washington stars as the title character; Frances McDormand, his wife.

The film will be shown at the New York Film Festival this Friday and will come to Apple TV+ early next year.

Coming sooner is a movie adaptation of Nella Larsen’s 1929 novella, Passing, which tells the story of childhood friends Irene (Tessa Thompson) and Clare (Ruth Negga).

Both of them are Black yet can “pass” as white, though only one chooses to live as a white woman — which complicates their eventual reunion.

Passing comes to select theaters in October and Netflix on November 10, according to Lit Hub.
