The book The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy turns forty-two this month!

For those unfamiliar with the classic Douglas Adams work -- the year is significant because the novel declares forty-two to be the ultimate answer to everything.

In honor of the occasion, NPR's Weekend Edition invited fans to share stories of what The Hitchhiker's Guide and its subsequent books meant to them.
