One school district that temporarily pulled certain books from its library has reshelved those titles.

The North Kansas City School District told parents on Friday that All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson and Fun Home by Alison Bechdel would be restored.

Both books had been removed after parents complained about their LGBTQ+ contents at an October school board meeting, reports The Hill.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri and district students both took the board to task over the whole situation, still.

The former issued a statement on Monday describing the original action as a violation of students’ First Amendment rights.

The latter attended the board meeting that night to speak in favor of the books; one student, reports the Kansas City Star, reminded the board that book-banning is a hallmark of totalitarian governments.
