Happy birthday, Patricia Highsmith

Author Patricia Highsmith was born on this day one hundred and one years ago.

Her centenary may have passed, but that's not cause to skip marking the birthday somehow.

Last spring, the New York Times Style Magazine noted that there were more than twenty different screen adaptations of Highsmith's works.

So writer Kerry Manders took a close look at four of them — Strangers on a Train, Carol (from The Price of Salt), A Kind of Murder (from The Blunderer), and The Talented Mr. Ripley — to address the question of whether Highsmith's novels make good movies.
