Have you ever noticed a literary trend and found yourself wondering, with some anxiety, whether you should write to it?
If so, you're certainly not alone.
For Michael Woodson, that situation arose when he heard people talking about the Hunger Games series and subsequently read it for himself.
Not only did he love it then, but he also re-read it as a class assignment for the study of pacing in literature.
Woodson couldn't help but feel like he should write something dystopian of his own.
But ultimately, the lesson he took away from that assignment was that there's no need to force yourself into a literary trend, just because it exists.
