Whenever a product or book is publicly challenged, you can almost count on a sales surge for it from its defenders.
The latest instance of that? The book The End of Policing by Alex Vitale.
The Houston Chronicle reports that Texas Senator Ted Cruz displayed the book for a few seconds during Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's Supreme Court hearing on Tuesday.
Subsequently, its author tweeted that the Republican lawmaker's actions had sent the book to the top of Amazon's Government Social Policy section.
When we checked just now, various editions were bestsellers in the Discrimination & Racism Studies and Law Enforcement Politics categories.
Cruz also showed copies of two other books: Critical Race Theory: An Introduction by Richard Delgado and Jean Stefancic, and Antiracist Baby by Ibram X. Kendi.
The latter, reports the Chronicle, was one of the bestselling children's books on Amazon in multiple categories on Wednesday.
