A friend of Kristine Kathryn Rusch's expressed surprise that she was taking an entertainment law class last year, because he thought she already knew everything there was to know.

Nothing could be further from the truth — because copyright law is constantly evolving.

So that's why Rusch has two new posts on copyright to share, with more maybe on the way.

The first one emphasizes (among other points) that there are always new ways to exploit a copyright, and so it behooves all authors to be extremely cautious — and specific — in what rights they are licensing.

The second one is a deep dive into rights termination issues.

If nothing else, the posts' real-life case studies are fascinating examples of hindsight being 20/20.
