Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert found a silver lining to being sentenced to prison.

While he maintains he's innocent, he told NPR's Daniel Estrin that he can't complain about the circumstances of his sixteen months in jail — it gave him the perfect environment in which to write a memoir.

Olmert's book, Searching For Peace: A Memoir Of Israel, was recently released in English, and as you might guess, many of the key events and players in it remain top-of-mind today.

You can read Olmert's conversation with Estrin on NPR's website, which also has audio of their interview.
