The book publishing industry has joined efforts to push back against book bans and challenges.

We Need Diverse Books, an organization aiming to make the industry more inclusive, has handed out thirty-five $2,000 grants to teachers and librarians across the US.

The money is meant to help them increase literary diversity (through audits and book purchases), to fund author visits and field trips, and to fund programs that aim to fight book bans and challenges.

You can read the hopes and goals of some of these literary diversity grant winners in Publishers Weekly.
