Classics that are hitting milestone ages this year

Several classic works of literature are reaching milestone anniversaries this year, and so literary news outlets are ready with the introspection.

Literary Hub kicked off the trend with the story behind Rudyard Kipling’s Just So Stories, which are the oldest of this roundup (120 this year).

Then came T.S. Eliot's The Waste Land, which marked one hundred years with a nearly weeklong celebration in London this month (though the actual anniversary is in October).

The our other books of honor are, like the first one, aimed at a younger audience and turning one hundred this year.

NPR collected insights into and observations about Margery Williams Bianco's The Velveteen Rabbit, while the New York Times ran an essay reflecting on Richmal Crompton’s “Just William” stories.
